What artwork do you need for custom embroidery or printing?
What to send
In rough order of how much work it saves:
- Vector, AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. Scales to any size without losing an edge. Best case for both methods.
- High-resolution PNG with a transparent background. Prints best of the raster formats.
- Any other raster file. Workable; bigger is better.
- A photo of a sketch or an old garment. Genuinely fine, it gets prepped by hand.
You do not need to supply a stitch file
Embroidery machines read a stitch file, not a logo. Converting one to the other is called digitizing, and it is free on every design here, so send the logo and skip that step entirely.
What changes between printing and stitching
For DTF printing, a transparent background matters, because whatever is behind your artwork prints too.
For embroidery, fine detail and very small text are the constraint, the design is rebuilt in thread, and thread has a minimum size below which detail closes up. If something will not hold, you hear it before production, not after.
Nothing runs before you see it
Whatever you send, you get a proof showing placement, size and color, and production only starts once you approve it.
What file format do you need for embroidery?
Any format works at Stitch & Go, AI, EPS, PDF, SVG, a high-resolution PNG, or even a photo of a sketch. Vector is ideal, but you do not need to supply a stitch file: digitizing is free on every design.
Can you use a logo from my website?
Usually yes, though a website logo is often small and low resolution. Send it along with anything else you have, the higher-resolution the source, the better the result.
Do I need a transparent background?
For DTF printing it helps, because anything behind your artwork prints too. A high-resolution PNG with a transparent background is the best raster file to send.
